STRONG MOTION DATA BASE
Center of Geophysical Data Studies and Telematics Applications
|
This is the home page of Strong Motion Data Base (SMDB) of
the Center of Geophysical Data Studies
and Telematics Applications (CGDS) of Joint Institute of Physics of the Earth
(JIPE) Russian Academy of Sciences.
The database is part of the European-Mediterranean
Seismological Centre (EMSC). At the 1994 EMSC General Assembly in Rome, the development
of this database was defined as the major activity of the CGDS in its capacity of the EMSC
key nodal member:
- In 1995, the database was significantly extended and made accessible on-line.
- In 1996, the CGDS developed client/server model of the SMDB with new World Wide Web interface.
- In 1997, in collaboration with Seismological Center (OME) in Obninsk, and with
support of Russian Foundation for Basic Research, scanned
photoimages of the historical strong motions records were included in the SMDB.
- In 2002, the whole database structure has been rebuilt and new data has been loaded.
The SMDB includes :
- Parametric information on signals that form the database (seismic events, stations,
recording instruments, and waveforms).
- Digital waveforms (time series) of the three component strong motion records.
- Scanned photo-images (bitmap files) of the historical strong motion records.
